Deep Fried Brussels Sprouts Recipe

Not to long ago we stumbled across a fried chicken place that served deep fried Brussels sprouts that really made us happy. So we thought we'd try to replicate the side dish recipe here at home. All of the listed ingredients can be done in any proportion that makes you happy - if you like cheese, load it on.

So we thought we'd try to replicate the side dish recipe here at home. All of the listed ingredients can be done in any proportion that makes you happy - if you like cheese, load it on. Don't like shallots, use less or leave them out (but seriously, don't). From a few drops of lemon juice, to the juice of a whole lemon... it's up to you. Ingredients: Brussels sprouts Shallots Lemon juice Hard Italian cheese Salt This goes great with our Deep Fried Steak Recipe: https://youtu.be/TIHu7ugyf4k Method: Prep the Brussels sprouts by removing the outer leaves and trimming off the ends. Quarter the Brussels Sprouts. Thinly slice the shallots. Juice the lemon. Grate the cheese. Fill a deep heavy bottomed pot halfway with Canola oil, or other deep fry oil. Bring oil to 350ºF. Carefully place the Brussels sprouts in the oil, and fry for two minutes. Add the shallots to the pot and fry for about 2 minutes more. Remove to rack to drain the oil, or to a paper towel lined dish. ingredients:

  • Brussels sprouts
  • Oil for frying
  • Shallots
  • Lemon juice
  • Hard Italian cheese
  • Salt

instructions:

  1. Prep the Brussels sprouts by removing the outer leaves and trimming off the ends.
  2. Quarter the Brussels Sprouts.
  3. Thinly slice the shallots.
  4. Juice the lemon.
  5. Grate the cheese.
  6. Fill a deep heavy bottomed pot halfway with Canola oil, or other deep fry oil.
  7. Bring oil to 350ºF.
  8. Carefully place the Brussels sprouts in the oil, and fry for two minutes.
  9. Add the shallots to the pot and fry for about 2 minutes more.
  10. Remove to rack to drain the oil, or to a paper towel lined dish.
  11. Place the sprouts and shallots into a serving bowl and toss with the grated cheese, lemon juice and salt.
