A BBQ and grill spice rub recipe that works really well with pork and chicken. Spice rubs are the mainstay of most grill and bbq recipes. Most of us take the easy road and buy readymade from the grocery store... but with very little effort you can become a grilling star by making your own. You can also easily scale this up to make more, and store it in an airtight container for the entire grilling season.

Rib and Chicken BBQ Dry Rub
A BBQ and grill spice rub recipe that works really well with pork and chicken.
Ingredients:
  • 2 Tbsp (30 mL) paprika
  • 2 Tbsp (30 mL) coarse salt
  • 1 Tbsp (15 mL) chili powder
  • 1 Tbsp (15 mL) ground black pepper
  • 1 Tbsp (15 mL) celery salt
  • 1 Tbsp (15 mL) granulated sugar
  • 1½ tsp (7 mL) hot mustard powder
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) dried sage
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) dried onion flakes
  • 1/2 tsp (2 mL) dried thyme
  • 1/2 tsp (2 mL) cayenne pepper
Method:
Mix all ingredients.Place in an airtight container, this will keep for 3 months.
