We take our first try on the Otto Wilde OFB Grill and make a perfectly seared bone in rib steak. The Otto Wilde Grill is an overhead broiler that allows you to get a perfect sear on steak - a restaurant style steak - it's how to cook a high end steak...

So come on along as we take the over fired broiler for it's first spin, first we head down to Sanagan's meat locker to pick up the rib steaks, and then head home to grill them perfectly.

The Otto Wilde OFB is a home version of the salamander broilers that you typically see in high end steak houses. The super high heat sears the meat quickly and forms an amazing tasting crust on the steaks.

Rib Steak On The Otto Wilde OFB Grill

We take our first try on the Otto Wilde OFB Grill and make a perfectly seared bone in rib steak. The Otto Wilde Grill is an overhead broiler that allows you to get a perfect sear on steak - a restaurant style steak - it's how to cook a high end steak... it's a steak machine! So come on along as we take the over fired broiler for it's first spin, first we head down to Sanagan's meat locker to pick up the rib steaks, and then head home to grill them perfectly.

prep time: 20 MINScook time: 9 MINStotal time: 29 mins

ingredients:

  • 1-2 bone on rib steaks
  • Salt & Pepper to taste
  • 4-5 cups quartered mushrooms
  • 1-2 quartered zucchini
  • Salt & Pepper to taste
  • Splash of olive oil

Method:

  1. Season the steaks and allow to come up to room temperature - about an hour.
  2. Prep the veg and toss with olive oil, salt, and pepper.
  3. Pre heat the Otto Wilde O.F.B. grill to 1500°F/900°C - takes about 3 minutes or so.
  4. Dab the steak surface to remove any moisture, this will help form a great crust.
  5. Place in the O.F.B. at Meat-O-Meter on stage 1 and sear on both sides for about 45-60 seconds.
  6. Once a nice crust forms, reduce the heat a bit and lower to Meat-o-Meter stage 5.
  7. Let them rest here until the steaks have reached your desired temperature / doneness.
    Rare 130 to 135°F, Medium Rare 140°F, Medium 155°F.
  8. Remove steak to a cutting board and allow to rest while you grill off the veg.
  9. Place the veg in the O.F.B. at Meat-O-Meter on stage 1 and grill for 1-2 minutes.
  10. Turn the veg if necessary, once a nice crust forms, reduce the heat a bit and lower to Meat-o-Meter stage 5.
    Let them rest here until the veg reaches the desired level of doneness.
